Caedes

A figure slips beneath the waves
Sinking in its icy depths.

No regret, no remorse
Cold hearted, closed off.

Watching with cold eyes, waiting
Just to be sure.

An eternity later, or so it seems
Certain the job is done.

A faint cry of a crow in the distance
And at last the bubbles end.

Nothing, no relief
Just a cold indifference.

Inspiration struck during Latin. No clue why/how. Just so.

Disgustingly morbid; I love it.

Caedes, caedis -(f) murder, slaughter

Hey! I told I'd come back to see if you've written anything. Sorry I didn't look on DA yest. (a 3 and 1 hr final back-to-back, slept 15 hrs straight like a baby). Hmmm, it sounds like the ocean has been personified as a "cold hearted, cold eyed" people of wrath smothering the crow. I like how you used a crow in specific considering that a crow is symbolic of a spiritual death. Putting it all together I think of the ocean as those that have "cold"-common lives that are smothering or segregating those that have their own individual (and creative) way of living and thinking. And that this has been continuing for "eternity". It's like a creative mind's "frozen hell" which has been going on for an "eternity". However, despite the common crowd trying to kill the individual lifestyle, it never dies and that there is still hope. I don't know if what I said was related to the poem but that's the symbolic message I get. Very interesting poem and again an outstanding job!

Woah, hit it right on the nose, didn't you? I applause your amazing insight here! Very, very good! The crow part I didn't have in when I first started, but while I was revising it, I said to myself, "Huh. Why not? It would most definately go..." and there you go! Viola!

You are incredibly good at analyzing my poems, and nothing seems to escape your grip! I am glad you like it too, I liked it alright!

Thanks for your input, greatly appreciated!
